Student groups put pressure to reopen Jamia Millia Islamia

In light of the improved COVID-19 situation in Delhi, several student groups have requested that Jamia Millia Islamia reopen its campus. There have been huge issues not only in India but throughout the world during the covid-19 outbreak.  As a result, the countries shut down their schools, universities, and other educational facilities. Since 2020 the successful School reopening of the Universities and colleges or schools has not been made possible.

Nevertheless, we see that the number of cases is declining and that the national capital is recording very few instances. So, the students are urging to reopen their colleges and universities to start an everyday life. In addition, many states intend to reopen schools to allow students to resume their regular study schedules to recover from the losses caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Many student groups have called on the government to reopen Jamia Millia Islamia as soon as possible. These groups include Campus Front of India, Students, All India Students’ Association (AISA), Islamic Organization of India (SIO), and Students’ Federation of India.

Several students have requested Jamia Millia Islamia’s campus be reopened now that the COVID-19 situation has improved in Delhi. Despite Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University has begun the process, Jamia Millia Islamia has yet to make any announcements regarding the phasing-out process of reopening its campus.

According to reports on the program, students taking courses like Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) will be given access to libraries and laboratories. Additionally, Ph.D. students who submit their thesis by the end of the year will be permitted to enter the campus if they’ve received the anti-Covid vaccination. Finally, a Notice concerning the reopening of the campus will be issued in a concise period.

Students have had serious difficulties for almost two years since the Coronavirus epidemic imposed the lockdown. There came a time when all campuses needed to be closed due to the growing number of Covid cases. However, things have changed now. A large number of public spaces and institutions have opened, and people have already begun taking advantage of all of the public services after proper preparations and sanitization.

Concern Among the student Rises

According to the students, they were denied access to the library and other college facilities, making it more difficult for them to function normally. In addition, since they could not find the proper materials or books, their preparation was incomplete.

Student pressure to reopen the campuses and have also pointed that according to United Nations International children’s emergency fund ( UNICEF), the closing of the campuses is of no help.Students or that it is the right time to open the campus as the case is a look. Taking advantage of the situation can be very beneficial for both the university and the student’s preparation.

Understandably, students are experiencing a challenging time, and the eagerness to return to campus has become even more.  There is a need to reopen the university as cases are declining, and the university’s normal functioning can be restored. People having to live at home because of the Covi-19 pandemic have had to do so for two years. Still, with a brief opening of universities and colleges, students and teachers alike will find themselves in a new environment that will surely bring positive results.  While all of this is taking place, it is crucial to keep the precautions and know-how of the experts in mind. Taking the appropriate decision is essential.
