Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Chandigarh

Build under Dr. M. S Randhawa; this garden is named after India Dr. Zakir Hussain’s former president in 1967. It is considered the most extensive garden in Asia, spread over 30 acres of land. It consists of more than 1600 species of radiant and Scented roses. This paradise also organizes the annual rose festival, which is held in February.

Sukhna Lake

It is one of the best picnic spots in Chandigarh. Being considered one of Chandigarh’s best picnic spots, the Sukhna lake was created by Le Corbusier and P L Verma in 1958. It was fed by three siltation pots which were diverted in 1974 to bypass the lake altogether. It was earlier known as Chakraborty lake after Haryana’s governor, Mr. Bikaner Chakraborty, from 1967 to 1976. Finalization of the new plan in Sukhna lake with 2.73 crores has been received from Union Government by Chandigarh Administration.

Leisure Valley

Being build by the famous architect Le Corbusier, it comprises 12 parks in leisure valley. Some of the popular ones are Rajendra park, Topiary Park, Fitness trails, Shanti Kunj, Smriti Upvan, Botanical Garden, Hibiscus Garden. Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary 

Spread over 2600 hectares, it has a rich variety of fauna and flora found in a catchment area of Sukhna Wildlife which is considered a preserved area. Nepali Gate and Kansal Gate are the two entry points located in these foothills of the Shivalik Range. It is known to have more Sambar deer than anywhere else in the country.
